‘Rathi Nirvedam’ to be remade


‘Rathi Nirvedam’, a beautiful poem on celluloid about a traumatic phase in the life of a teenager, has been an evergreen hit in Malayalam.
The sensitive film was penned by Padmarajan and captured on canvas by none other than Bharathan.

Now, it is reported that Suresh Kumar of Revathy Kalamandhir is planning to remake the movie. The producer, encouraged by the success of his 'Neelathamara' remake, is confident that this one also would be accepted by the masses and classes alike. As in the case of 'Neelathamara' remake, this film also would feature newcomers.

Mollywood runs after Krishna Poojappura





A couple of days ago, we had reported that veteran director Shaji Kailas would be penning the script for his 'Police Commissioner' himself, as he find quality scenarists rare in Mollywood.

Well, that is why Krishna Poojappura is in such high demand. The young writer, a noted satirist before taking up a career in films, has become one of the most sought after writers in Malayalam cinema. He scored back to back hits in `Ivar Vivahitarayal' and `Happy Husbands', both directed by Saji Surendran

Ragini Dwivedi replaces Parvathy in 'Kandahar'



Excepting for Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan, the names of other important actors kept on changing.

Last week, it was reported that Parvathy Omanakuttan would be playing the female lead in the film, based on the infamous Air India flight hijack in 1999. Now, it transpires that she would not be in the film and that the role has gone to Ragini Dwivedi. Ragini is known for her powerful roles in Kannada films such as 'Veera Madagiri' and 'Gokula'.

Jayasurya as woman in 'Nallavan'

Most of our superstars have done it, including Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth, Suriya, Vijay and Vikram. In Malayalam cinema, actors such as Prem Nazir, Adoor Bhasi and Bahadoor had done it several times.

In recent times, not many actors have shown the courage to portray woman-roles. Dileep's full length "dhim tharikita" role (effeminate man) in 'Chantu Pottu' has been an exception.
